Abstract
This paper aims to analyze the current state of the relationship that the society has with the Historical Center of Durango City and the properties considered by specialists and official institutions as Historical Monuments. This is a quantitative research with a descriptive scope where surveys were carried out to find out about knowledge, valuation and appropriation that society has of heritage, as well as the participation in its creation and management. The results showed that most of the Historical Monuments are not identified and are not integrated into the imaginary of certain social groups, at least not from a heritage perspective; likewise, decision-making processes are reduced to a matter for specialists and administrators and personal resolutions of governors. In conclusion, the intervention of the Historical Center is focused on a model that does not consider the citizenship of heritage.
