Abstract
The aim of this paper is to analyse, through the Doxey irritation model, the tourism impacts on the population of Cañadas de Nanchititla, with respect to the religious event Holy Week. This work adopted a mixed methodological approach, which consisted of conducting interviews with people directly and indirectly linked to the festivity, along with the application of a questionnaire to residents. The main findings indicate that several residents are in the first stage of the model due to the economic impact of the festival on the locality, although there are some cases in the apathy stage. Thus, it is concluded that the model is useful for the study of the impacts and attitudes of the local community, but this model cannot be applied in a linear way; also, elements such as the tourist typology and the temporality of the tourist activities have to be added.
