Abstract

The green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) is a fast and cost-effective area of opportunity. In this study, the synthesis of silver sulfate nanoparticles (AgSNPs) and silver nitrate nanoparticles (AgNNPs) was analyzed using an aqueous hop extract. The resulting AgNPs were characterized using instrumental spectroscopic methods. Antifungal activity against Fusarium oxysporum and Alternaria solani was evaluated. The presence of AgNPs was detected by UV-Vis spectroscopy in the 200 nm to 350 nm range. FTIR spectroscopy revealed peaks between 1000 cm⁻¹ and 1200 cm⁻¹ related to the stretching vibration of the C–C and C–O double bonds. Particle size exhibited bimodal behavior. The ζ potential of the AgNPs ranged from 13.79 mV to -57.53 mV. Antifungal activity was observed, with a reduction in growth halos. These AgNPs synthesized with hop extract may be a versatile antifungal alternative.
