Resumen

El uso de biocombustibles como el biodiésel en motores de combustión puede aumentar el consumo específico de combustible y emisiones, como los óxidos de nitrógeno (NOx). Este estudio presenta una revisión sistemática analítica para explorar alternativas de ajuste en motores destinadas a mitigar estas limitaciones. La revisión se centró en literatura sobre el efecto de la relación de compresión, recirculación de gases de escape (EGR) y el tiempo de inyección. Los hallazgos señalan que el retardo del tiempo de inyección y la aplicación de EGR son las técnicas más efectivas para reducir los NOx, aunque pueden aumentar el monóxido de carbono (CO). Asimismo, aumentar la relación de compresión mejora la eficiencia térmica del freno (BTE). Se concluye que combinar dos o más técnicas, como EGR con ajustes en el tiempo de inyección o un límite magro, es indispensable para lograr simultáneamente un rendimiento óptimo y reducir las emisiones de NOx.
