Manglares urbanos en resistencia: el caso del sistema estuarino Urías-Infiernillo en Mazatlán, Sinaloa

Resumen
Se analizó la extensión y condición vegetal de manglares en el sistema estuarino Urías-Infiernillo, Mazatlán, Sinaloa, mediante técnicas de percepción remota con imágenes satelitales (1990-2025). La cobertura se estimó por clasificación no supervisada y la condición mediante el índice de vegetación de diferencias normalizadas (NDVI), clasificado en cuatro tipos según distribución por cuartiles (Tipo 1: menor condición; Tipo 4: mejor condición). Los resultados mostraron una superficie promedio de 964 ha (±62.9 ha), con mínimo de 876 ha (2000) y máximo de 1,082 ha (2020). Predominaron los Tipos 2 y 3 (condición intermedia). El Tipo 1 se distribuyó inicialmente en Infiernillo, expandiéndose posteriormente hacia los márgenes interiores de Urías, adyacentes a actividades acuícolas, agrícolas y urbanas. Los manglares mantuvieron superficie estable con fluctuaciones moderadas (~5% de variabilidad), aunque presentaron reducciones considerables (>5%) en 2000 y 2025. Los resultados evidencian la resistencia de estos manglares urbanos, pero alertan sobre su vulnerabilidad en zonas de contacto antropogénico.
