Peer Review Process

Acta Universitaria follows a peer-review process, where authors' names are not revealed to reviewers and vice versa. This type of evaluation prevents both authors and reviewers from bias. Articles are sent to two reviewers who can either accept the manuscript without revision, accept it with minor revision, or reject it. When controversy between verdicts by reviewers, a third assessment of the manuscript is requested.

Frequency of Publication

Acta Universitaria is a multidisciplinary scientific journal that follows a continuous publication model, publishing a single annual volume. It publishes every Wednesday, except during holidays established in the academic calendar of the University of Guanajuato.

Data retention policy

LOCKSS

The platform Open Journal Systems (OJS) used by the journal Acta Universitaria is compatible with the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system, guaranteeing a safe and permanent storage. LOCKSS is an open-source software developed by the Stanford University Library that allows libraries to preserve selected online journals, searching on registered magazines to collect new published content and store it. Each archive is continuously validated against records of other libraries; therefore, any damaged or lost content can be restored using such records or the journal itself.

The stored issues can be consulted in the LOCKSS Publisher Manifest. This way the articles are being progressively archived, ensuring that the stored digital information remains for future use.

CLOCKSS

OJS also supports the CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system to guarantee safe and permanent archives for the journal. CLOCKSS is based on the LOCKSS open-source software developed by the Stanford University Library, which allows libraries to preserve selected online magazines through the constant verification of the websites owned by the registered journals seeking recently published content to store it. Each archive is constantly validated against other cache memories owned by libraries, and if it was found that the content has been corrupted or lost, other cache memories or the journal itself can be used to restore it.

CLOCKSS stores and distributes the journal’s content to the participant libraries through the CLOCKSS webpage.

Acta Universitaria is also fully available with open access on databases such as DIALNET and DOAJ; moreover, it is currently a member of Crossref, which guarantees the identification of files and avoids location problems caused by changes of URL or similar issues.
