Abstract
In the latter part of the XIX century Don Vicente Fernández, professor of the Colegio del Estado, proposed that a journal should be edited covering scientific themes such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, zoology, botany, mineralogy and astronomy. His idea became a reality when in 1991 the Universidad de Guanajuato edited a journal,Acta Universitaria, with the characteristics that he had proposed. Ever since 17 issues have been published containing articles that come from different disciplines including sciences, social sciences, humanities, business and economics. A great number of these articles have been contributions of professors in the areas of agriculture, biology, chemistry, physics, medicine and engineering. In addition, other topics covered have been philosophy and other humanities. In the present article the evolution of the journal is examined to determine how many national and international articles have been published in the journal and the contribution of the academic units of the Universidad de Guanajuato as well.
