Abstract

The objective of this article is to identify the risk factors of the socioeconomic and cultural environment that influenced the differentiated spread of SARS-CoV-2 infections in the 24 Peruvian political regions. With regional information corresponding to 2020 and 2021, multivariable linear regressions were carried out with the ordinary least squares method. Results found indicate that the levels of covid-19 infections are positively associated with the formal employment rate, the number of health establishments per 100 000 inhabitants, access to drinking water from the public network, and violation of health regulations; however, they are negatively associated with the number of doctors per 1000 inhabitants. In conclusion, the differentiated spread of the SARS-CoV-2 infection rate between Peruvian regions is related to socioeconomic and cultural risk factors.
